KML - Lesson 29

蝶ちょうは　夕暮ゆうぐれの庭にわを
音おともなく　漂ただよっていた

The butterfly drifted
through the evening garden without a sound.

雨あめの廊下ろうかに
ただ一人ひとり　灯ひを見みつめていた

In the rainy corridor,
one person quietly watched the lantern glow.

白しろい糸いとは
静しずかな夜よるの中なかで　生うまれていた

White thread was being born
within the silence of the night.

風かぜは見みえず
竹たけと布ぬのだけを　揺ゆらしていた

The wind could not be seen,
only the bamboo and cloth moving softly.

曇くもる鏡かがみの奥おくに
まだ名なのない自分じぶんがいた

Beyond the clouded mirror
stood a self not yet fully named.

石段いしだんの霧きりに
最初さいしょの灯ひが　静しずかに灯ともった

Within the mist on the stone steps,
the first lantern quietly came alive.

薄紫うすむらさきの袖そでは
遠とおい庭にわの風かぜを　待まっていた

The pale plum sleeves
waited for the distant garden wind.

古ふるい頁ページに
新あたらしい線せんが　静しずかに加くわわった

Upon the old page,
a new line was quietly added.

記録きろくだけが
時ときの沈黙ちんもくを　知しっていた

Only the records
understood the silence of time.

柔やわらかな布ぬのの中なかに
言葉ことばにならない温ぬくもりがあった

Within the soft cloth
rested a warmth beyond words.

深ふかい光ひかりの中なかで
小ちいさな命いのちが　眠ねむっていた

Within the deep glow,
a small life slept quietly.

海霧うみぎりの砲ほうは
もう誰だれも傷きずつけようとはしなかった

The cannon in the sea fog
no longer wished to harm anyone.

月つきの揺ゆれる水面みなもに
小ちいさな泡あわが　光ひかっていた

Upon the moonlit water,
small bubbles shimmered softly.

古ふるい亀かめは
霧きりの池いけで　時ときを止とめていた

The ancient turtle
seemed to stop time beside the misty pond.

遠とおい山やまの雲くもが
青白あおじろい光ひかりを　抱だいていた

The distant mountain clouds
held a pale blue light within them.

霧きりの空そらに
竜りゅうの気配けはいだけが　浮うかんでいた

Within the misty sky,
only the presence of the dragon emerged.

白銀しろがねの滝たきは
闇やみの岩いわを　裂さきながら落おちていた

The silver waterfall
fell through the dark stone gorge.

雨あめの農場のうじょうで
豚ぶたは静しずかな土つちを歩あるいていた

On the rainy farm,
the pig walked quietly through the earth.

霧きりへ続つづく道みちを
旅人たびびとは　止とまらず進すすんでいた

Along the road fading into mist,
the traveler continued onward.

星図せいずの下したで
学者がくしゃは　静しずかな答こたえに辿たどり着ついた

Beneath the star charts,
the scholar arrived at a quiet answer.
