岬みさきの先さきに立たてば、
新あたらしい風かぜが名なを呼よぶ。
勇気ゆうきは一歩いっぽ先さきから始はじまる。

Standing upon the cape,
a new wind calls your name.
Courage begins one step ahead.

崖がけの縁ふちに咲さく花はなは、
恐おそれより空そらを見みつめる。
強つよさは静しずかな根ねに宿やどる。

The flower on the cliff's edge
looks to the sky, not fear.
Strength lives in quiet roots.

一歩いっぽ踏ふみ入いれるたび、
知しらない世界せかいが広ひろがる。
学まなびは扉とびらを開ひらくこと。

With every step inside,
an unseen world unfolds.
Learning is opening a door.

人ひとの想おもいが込こめられた器うつわは、
時ときを越こえて温あたたかい。
心こころは形かたちに残のこる。

A vessel filled with care
stays warm across the years.
The heart leaves its shape behind.

分わけ合あう灯あかりは、
誰だれの光ひかりも減へらさない。
優やさしさは増ふえてゆく。

A shared light
dims no one's flame.
Kindness only grows.

貧まずしさの中なかにも、
笑顔えがおを育そだてる人ひとがいる。
豊ゆたかさは心こころにも宿やどる。

Even in poverty,
some nurture smiles.
Richness also lives in the heart.

喜よろこびを頒わければ、
世界せかいは少すこし明あかるくなる。
幸しあわせは巡めぐってゆく。

When joy is shared,
the world grows a little brighter.
Happiness makes its rounds.

公おおやけの道みちは、
誰だれにも等ひとしく続つづいている。
正ただしさは開ひらかれている。

The public road
stretches equally for all.
Justice remains open.

松まつは冬ふゆにも緑みどりを守まもる。
変かわらぬ姿すがたは、
時ときへの約束やくそく。

The pine keeps its green through winter.
Its steadfast form
is a promise to time.

翁おきなの微笑ほほえみは、
長ながい歳月さいげつの贈おくり物もの。
知恵ちえは静しずかに語かたる。

The old man's smile
is a gift of many years.
Wisdom speaks softly.

訟あらそいの声こえより、
静しずかな対話たいわは遠とおく届とどく。
平和へいわは耳みみから始はじまる。

Beyond voices of dispute,
quiet dialogue travels farther.
Peace begins by listening.

谷たにを流ながれる水みずは、
急いそがず海うみへ向むかう。
低ひくい所ところにも道みちがある。

Water through the valley
reaches the sea without haste.
Even low places have a path.

朝日あさひを浴あびる木々きぎは、
静しずかに命いのちを輝かがやかせる。
光ひかりは惜おしみなく降ふる。

Trees bathed in morning light
quietly shine with life.
Light falls without holding back.

広ひろい器うつわは、
違ちがいさえ受うけ入いれる。
包つつむ心こころが平和へいわを育そだてる。

A spacious vessel
welcomes even differences.
A generous heart nurtures peace.

雪ゆきが溶とけるころ、
春はるは声こえを立たてず訪おとずれる。
変化へんかは静しずかに始はじまる。

When snow melts,
spring arrives without a sound.
Change begins quietly.

欲ほっする心こころを鎮しずめると、
足たりている景色けしきが見みえてくる。
満みちは内うちにある。

When desire grows still,
the abundance already here appears.
Fullness is within.

裕ゆとかな人ひととは、
急いそがず微笑ほほえめる人ひと。
ゆとりは時ときの贈おくり物もの。

The truly abundant
can smile without hurry.
Leisure is a gift of time.

鉛なまりの重おもさも、
磨みがけば静しずかな輝かがやきを持もつ。
価値かちは表面ひょうめんだけではない。

Even lead,
when polished, holds a quiet shine.
Worth is more than the surface.

川かわに沿そう道みちは、
景色けしきとともに続つづいてゆく。
歩あるみは流ながれと友ともになる。

The road along the river
continues beside the changing view.
Walking becomes a friend of the current.

努力どりょくへの賞しょうは、
拍手はくしゅだけではない。
今日きょうの自分じぶんが明日あしたを照てらす。

The reward for effort
is more than applause.
Today's self lights tomorrow.
